When a child with a sensory processing disorder such as Autism is in a mainstream classroom they are processing all the things most others can tune out, simple things like sitting up straight, temperature, smells, othersโ conversation. This may create levels of anxiety and subsequently they may require a โbrain breakโ from the surrounding distractions.
These children may love jumping, hopping skipping and fast movement, behaviours which are difficult to accommodate within the classroom but by using areas outside the classroom, the child can still be supervised in an environment where they can benefit from โtime outโ activities where โjammedโ neurological pathways can be cleared.
Our Active Learning Floor and Wall Sticker packs can be used to create sensory โpathsโ that can be used to create a break for children to be able to โresetโ by processing simple activities like stepping, jumping, placing hands on walls, skipping or jumping on instructional shapes.
